About Austria
❖ Austria, officially the Republic of Austria is a federal republic and a landlocked country of over 8.7 million people in Central Europe.
❖ Austria is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with a nominal per capita GDP of $46,972 (2018 est.). The country has developed a high standard of living and in 2016 was ranked 24rd in the world for its Human Development Index.
❖ It is bordered by the Czech Republic and Germany to the North, Hungary and Slovakia to the East, Slovenia and Italy to the South, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the West.
❖ The majority of the population speaks German, which is also the country’s official language. Other local official languages are Croatian, Hungarian and Slovene.

❖ Travel medical insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30,000
❖ Cover letter explaining the purpose of the trip.
❖ Confirmation of present student status e.g. original letter from school / college /university, student card, certificates etc.
❖ Evidence of payment of tuition fee or acceptance of scholarship for the intended studies in Austria.
❖ Proof of sufficient funds to cover overall cost of living during the probable duration of study
❖ Proof of accommodation in Austria or letter of acceptance at the school’s / college’s / university’s dormitory) along with Accommodation Agreement
Documents Required for Visa
❖ Round‐trip flight bookings ‐ travel itinerary: airline reservation and proof of other means of travel within Austria/EU
❖ Minor travelers:
❖ a minor accompanied by one parent shall provide an Original notarized NOC by the other parent , plus copies of parent’s passports or ID
❖ a minor travelling alone shall provide an Original notarized NOC by both parents / legal guardians, plus copies of parents passports or ID
❖ Copy of the present passport (data pages, pages with evidence of previous visa, travel) 16 Original(s) of previous passport(s) or proof of loss

Proof of Resources and Acceptable Funds
❖ Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the living costs [as of 2020]:
❖ Students under 24 years of age: 533.85 Euro/month
❖ Students as of the age of 24: 966.65 Euro/month
❖ The funds have to be in a savings book or bank account that must bear the applicant’s name and be accessible from Austria or funds can be shown in the savings account of Sponsor along with Guarantee Letter duly filled and signed by Sponsor.
❖ Examples of accepted proofs: Bank statement of the last 6 months (including payments into the account, payment orders, etc.), bank statement of the account of parents or other sponsors of the last 6 months, proof of employment of the parents or other sponsors or of the student him or herself from employer and/or self ‐employed work (employment contract plus the last 6 pay slips and proof of payment of the salary or trade licence plus last tax assessment).
Visa Submission Process
❖ Once all the documents are ready student can book an appointment for Biometrics and submit the Visa file in Person at Austrian Embassy, New Delhi
❖ Visa Fees is Eur 150
❖Applications shall be decided on within 15 Working Days of the date of the lodging of an application that period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days in individual cases
❖ Residence Permit – Student” will be issued for a period of 12 months
